My summer has officially begun. I've gone from teaching 2nd grade to working at a summer camp. Normally I get about a week in between the two jobs; however, this year, school ran late so I literally left right from school on Friday to go to camp orientation (followed by another day of orientation on Saturday). My body is telling me to slow down. I took naps each of the past three days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)...each nap ranging in time from 30 minutes to 2 hours. AND, I was still tired enough to sleep at night. I attribute this to all the work I had to do over the last two-three weeks of school. End-of-Year business is ALOT of work...final assessments, paperwork coming out the wazoo, as well as alot of physical work (we are required to pack up everything in our room before school lets out for the summer). All of this while we have to also keep the kids occupied and busy. And, no, our school is not air-conditioned. So I think that this is all catching up with me. Even though I will continue to work throughout the summer, I'm just glad I don't have to also take my work home with me as I do when teaching.
